Mozilla Yanks Firefox Anti-Phishing Feature


Mozilla will drop anti-phishing protection from the latest version of Firefox 2.0 in Google Inc. 's request when the Mozilla browser update later this month, a company executive confirmed Thursday.

When Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.19 out bad, the browser will lose the anti-phishing features that aging has sported since the browser debuted in 2006, said Mike Beltzner, director of Firefox, in an e-mail Thursday.

"The last published update to Firefox 2, which is the version 2.0.0.18, has the Phishing Protection feature is activated and working," said Beltzner. "However, the next scheduled update to Firefox 2, version 2.0.0.19, will be required to disable this feature."

This policy is to support the browser to six months after it has been superseded by the new version. The company unveiled Firefox 3.0 in mid-June.
Dubbed "Phishing Protection" by Mozilla, the feature warns users when they try to reach a site hosting the suspected theft of identity fraud.

The list of blocked sites that are generated by Google, the search companies that provide 88% of income from the Mozilla during the year 2009.
